Introduction

Social Story Generator (socialstorygenerator.com) helps you write personalized social stories for your child. Because the content is personal, this policy is specific about what we collect, what happens to photos, and what we never do. It is written in plain words.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address and password (the password is stored only as a cryptographic hash). A display name if you provide one.
• Story content. Everything you type into the conversation and the pages generated from it, so your stories stay available to you.
• Photos, only if you upload one. See the photo section below. It is the strictest part of this policy.
• Purchase records. Records of credit packs you bought and how credits were spent, so your balance and history stay accurate. Card numbers never reach our servers; payments run through a payment processor.
• Service logs. Short-lived technical logs (request timing, error codes) that help us keep the service healthy.

We do not run advertising, so we have no ad trackers to explain.

Photos: processed in the moment, deleted right after, never used for training

If you upload a photo of your child, this is everything that happens to it:

1. It is used in the moment. The photo is converted into a styled illustration reference for the single story you are making, so the pages look like your child in the style you picked.
2. It is deleted right after. When the story work finishes, the uploaded photo and the styled reference made from it are deleted from storage. This is not a soft delete or an archive; the files are removed, and if a deletion fails we keep retrying until it succeeds.
3. It is never stored for later. We keep no photo library, no face data, and no record beyond a single flag on the story row that says a photo was used for that story.
4. It is never used for training. Photos and story text are excluded from every form of model training, ours or anyone else's. There is no opt-in, because there is nothing to opt into.

Uploading a photo is always optional. Describing your child in words works too.

Your stories

• They are yours and they stay private. Stories are visible only to you when you are signed in. We do not sell story content and we do not place advertising next to it.
• No hidden child profiles. We do not build a profile of your child across stories or sessions. Each story uses only what you tell it during that story's conversation.
• Deletion is real and simple. Deleting a story removes the story row, every page, its illustrations, and its PDF exports. No phone call, no waiting period. Account deletion removes all of your stories the same way.
• Backups roll off. Like most online services, we keep safety backups. Deleted content ages out of backups within 30 days.

Where content is processed

Generation runs on AI models we contract with, and the service runs on cloud infrastructure (application hosting, database, and file storage). The current models are DeepSeek (its deepseek-chat model) for story text, and Seedream, the image model family from ByteDance (Seedream 5.0 Flash for Flash stories, Seedream 5.0 Pro for Pro stories), for illustrations, including the styled reference drawn from a photo you upload. Before generation, the story text is also checked by Waffo, our payment and content-safety provider, to enforce the content rules in our Terms of Service; that check is stateless and the text is not retained by it. The current model list is also kept in our Terms of Service. These processors get only what is needed to produce your story, and they are bound to process it solely to provide the service. Your content is not used by them for training through our arrangements.

Children's privacy

The service is operated by adults on behalf of children: parents and caregivers type the content and hold the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and we ask that you only enter what the story needs. If you believe a child submitted personal information without an adult, contact us and we will remove it.

Cookies

We set one session cookie when you sign in, so you stay signed in. That is all. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, export, correct, or delete your personal information. The tools in the service cover the most common ones (story deletion, account deletion), and you can always write to us at hello@socialstorygenerator.com for anything else. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the service or by email before it takes effect, and the "last updated" date above will change.
