Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of Social Story Generator.
Last updated: 2026-11-04
1. What the service is
Social Story Generator (socialstorygenerator.com) ("we", "us") is an online tool that helps parents and caregivers create personalized social stories through a guided conversation. You describe a situation, our service drafts a story with illustrations, and you can edit and print it for personal use with your family.
The service is an educational writing tool, not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from qualified professionals who know your child.
2. Your account
You need an account to generate and store stories. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for the activity under your account. You must be an adult (18 or older) to create an account and to make purchases.
You can delete your account at any time; deleting your stories is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Credits and purchases
The service works with credits. Credits are spent when a story is generated, when illustrations are regenerated, or when a page is rewritten with AI. Editing pages by hand is free.
Credits are sold in packs. Each pack is a one-time purchase: there is no subscription, nothing renews automatically, and we do not keep a card on file. Pack prices and per-story credit costs are shown before you buy or generate, and they may change over time; changes never apply retroactively to credits you already hold.
Free credits granted with sign-up or promotions have no cash value.
4. Your content
Stories you create, including the text you type and any edits you make, are yours. We store them to provide the service and show them to you when you sign in. You can delete any story, with its pages, pictures, and PDF exports, at any time.
You give us the limited permission needed to run the service: processing your inputs to generate stories, storing the results for you, and sending requests to the AI providers that power generation. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train models.
5. Our content
The service itself, including the example story library, illustrations we produce for the example library, page designs, and all site copy, belongs to us. You may read, print, and share example stories for personal, non-commercial use.
"Social Stories™" is a trademark of Carol Gray. Social Story Generator is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by her. We build on the framework she developed.
6. The AI models we use
Generation runs on third-party AI models that we contract with. As of the date above, your story is produced by:
- Story text (the guided conversation, the page drafts, and AI rewrites): written by DeepSeek, using its deepseek-chat model.
- Illustrations (page pictures, and the character look drawn from a photo you upload): generated by Seedream, the image model family from ByteDance. Flash stories use Seedream 5.0 Flash; Pro stories use Seedream 5.0 Pro.
We choose models that fit a children's product. If we add, switch, or retire a model, this section is updated with it and the "last updated" date above changes.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, no scraping or bulk export of content that is not yours, no uploading content you have no right to use, and no use of the service to create material that is unlawful.
Because the service generates text and images with AI, it also comes with content rules of its own. You may not use it to create, or to try to create, any of the following, in words or in pictures:
- Sexual or NSFW content. No sexual, pornographic, or sexually suggestive material, including any such material involving minors, whether real, fictional, or AI-generated.
- Violent or gory content. No graphic violence, gore, torture, or abuse, and nothing that glorifies self-harm.
- Hate speech. No content that attacks, demeans, or calls for discrimination against people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Content that endangers children. No child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and no sexualization of minors in any form. This ban is absolute. We report suspected child sexual abuse to the relevant authorities.
- Deepfakes and impersonation. No content that impersonates a real person or misrepresents what they said or did, and no using generated images to deceive anyone.
- Infringing content. No content that infringes a copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property, including requests to reproduce protected characters, brands, or works.
Photos carry one extra rule: upload a photo only of your own child, and only one you have the right to use. Do not upload photos of other people or of other people's children.
Trying to work around these rules, for example by rephrasing a request that was refused, is itself a violation. We may refuse a generation, remove stored content, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, as described in the next section.
8. Reporting violations and how we handle them
How to report. If you run into content that breaks section 7, in your own story or anywhere on the site, write to us at hello@socialstorygenerator.com with a link or a description of what you saw. You do not need an account to report.
How reports are handled. Every report is read by a person on our team and worked in this order:
- Triage by severity. Anything that involves child safety comes first.
- Review. The reported content is checked against the rules in section 7.
- Removal. Content that violates these terms is deleted, with its stories, pages, pictures, and PDF exports.
- Account action. Depending on how serious the violation is and whether it repeats, we warn the account, suspend it, or close it permanently.
- Authorities where required. Suspected child sexual abuse material is reported to the relevant authorities and kept only as long as those reports require.
Generation requests also pass through the safety filters of the AI providers named in section 6 before any output reaches you, and we may adjust or replace a model whose filtering is not strong enough for a children's product.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available and improve it over time. Features may change, and generation depends on the third-party AI models listed in section 6; occasional outages and changes in output quality can happen. If a paid generation fails, credits for the unfinished work are returned automatically, as described in our Refund Policy.
We may update these terms as the service evolves. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the service or by email.
10. Liability
The service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you hold under mandatory consumer protection laws.
